Burnside One will be a new mixed-use, highly sustainable, affordable housing high rise located in the Skidmore area of downtown Portland, OR. By providing 700+ units across 30 stories, the development will help inject vitality back into the urban core while significantly addressing Portland’s housing crises.
Through the use of Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) and solar panel cladding, Burnside One aims to achieve Net Zero. The building’s massing is informed by iterative solar studies, identifying which orientation provides the greatest average solar exposure.
The building’s adjacency to light rail aligns with best practice urban planning principles and ensures residents have easy access to transportation infrastructure.
Burnside One will bring much needed affordable housing to Portland’s downtown core, aligning with city goals of growth through increased density that is sustainable and accessible.
